Birds of Costa Rica
Most of these shots are in no particular order. Just examples from the five trips down there so far. Most of the time we were in the company of Noel Urena who is in my opinion one of the best birder/ photographers I've ever met. Noel is an excellent birding guide who also runs the largest Christmas bird count region in Costa Rica. His Birding guide website " Tropical Feathers" is worth a visit just for the photos.
With Noel and Luis, a friend of Noels, I had the opportunity to join in four surveys for the Dept of Conservation. They were wonderful experiences indeed. The link to Noels Tropical Feathers Birding website is at the top of this page.
Enjoy.

Scaled Pigeon very early in the morning at the start of a bird count for Los Cosingos, Costa Rica. Only a pigeon you say! these guys are always at the top of very tall trees and elevations. They have a very long, many meters, comfort distance and are easily startled into flying off. it is usually very difficult to get close to these birds.
I think this one had not completely woken up. It was 5:30 am and appeared to be looking and calling for love and so allowed me to approach the tall tree it was in.
