Birds of Costa Rica
Most of these shots are in no particular order. Just examples from the five trips down there so far. Most of the time we were in the company of Noel Urena who is in my opinion one of the best birder/ photographers I've ever met. Noel is an excellent birding guide who also runs the largest Christmas bird count region in Costa Rica. His Birding guide website " Tropical Feathers" is worth a visit just for the photos.
With Noel and Luis, a friend of Noels, I had the opportunity to join in four surveys for the Dept of Conservation. They were wonderful experiences indeed. The link to Noels Tropical Feathers Birding website is at the top of this page.
Enjoy.

White-winged Tanager, I had two kicks at the can with one of these guys over two days. I blew it both times. They are a bit hard to spot. I think it might be because they are such a bright red. It seems they feel like a sitting duck. They certainly act like they feel a bit conspicuous and hence shy.
Normally I would have deleted this shot. The more I looked at it the more it seemed to represent their behaviour, secretive. Plus I like the way he is peeping at me through the hole in the leaf.
