This gallery is devoted to random colour photography, few are planned on an individual basis and almost all presented themselves uninvited. However, the photograph will only be included here if it fits a conceptual model.
Individually I hope each photograph can stand on its own but as they are viewed collectively a description emerges of the daily perception of unimportant things. This sort of thing happens to all of us all day every day no matter how unaware we may be of these moments. The minutiae itself is not important but the perception of that moment that we all experience is.
Trying to describe the periphery of day to day inadvertent observation without being literal means that certain criteria must met. This criteria for me includes the quality and intrigue of minutiae, a negative space fraught with a visual tension that is yet informal. The ability to underline the fact that photographs, like painting are a series of marks arranged on a flat surface. Ultimately that's all a photograph is, just a clever arranging of marks done in a way that allows us to assemble them into something we perceive as "real"

on December 6, 2008How to describe this gallery? Quirky, mysterious, ominous, off-beat, inspired? All those things and more. One could spend a whole day savoring all 23 pages.
